Kim Plath’s kids are growing up, but that doesn’t mean she’s letting them take over Welcome to Plathville. Kim and her ex-husband Barry Plath are the parents of nine children, whom they raised in a very religious family. The conservative family avoided sugar, television and anything considered immoral. Plath’s children were homeschooled, giving them little exposure to those who differed from Kim’s views. This left the children with permanent problems that followed them into adulthood.
After breaking up with Barry Welcome to Plathville season 4, Kim underwent a transformation. She relaxed her parenting, started wearing more revealing clothes and started dating again. I’m convinced that Kim’s change was an attempt to stay in the spotlight while her children branched out and developed their own lives. Kim tries to repair her relationship with her children, but she refuses to admit that the damage she caused is her faulta quality that I don’t think will improve in Season 7.
Kim has been called out for many faults
His parenting style caused alienation from his children
Kim has never been popular with the public because of his judgmental and inflexible attitude. Welcome to Plathville’s the early seasons showed Kim’s estrangement from her older children because of his strict upbringing. His daughter Moriah Plath was the first rebel. When Kim disapproved of Moriah’s choices, Moriah moved out of the family home when she was only a teenager. Even though Moriah and Kim are close again, I’m convinced that Kim’s insane rules drove Moriah away.
Kim’s eldest son, Ethan Plath, wasn’t shy about sharing his grievances with Kim. Ethan claims that his homeschooling left him at a disadvantage compared to his peers. Kim’s questionable curriculum did not adequately prepare her children for the adult world. When Ethan married his wife, Olivia Plath, Kim’s interference in their marriage eventually caused him to cut off all contact with her. Kim and Ethan are now on speaking terms, but the damage to Ethan’s marriage caused him to eventually divorce Olivia.
While it’s great that Kim is evolving, her children are left to pick up on Kim’s decisions.
After her divorce from Barry, Kim moved out of the family home, leaving her daughter Lydia Plath in charge of homeschooling her younger siblings. This was incredibly unfair to both Lydia and the young children. Kim abandoned his duties when he grew tired of them. Then she abandoned the conservative lifestyle she had pushed on her children for so many years. While it’s great that Kim is evolving, her children are left to pick up on Kim’s decisions.
It’s clear that Kim enjoys the spotlight
He does everything by himself
Kim has always loved the attention she gets from acting Welcome to Plathville. She was the driving force behind the family’s decision to appear on television, even though Kim strictly controlled her own children’s access to television. Kim knew viewers would be fascinated by her family’s unique lifestyle. He created drama with Olivia by refusing to have calm conversations and instead putting on a big show for the cameras. Kim still makes everything about her even after Ethan and Olivia’s divorce, focusing on the ways Olivia wronged him.

During her breakup with Barry, Kim tried to play the victim. I’m convinced he thought the audience would root for himbut surprisingly Barry has received a more favorable makeover. Kim seems disturbed by Barry’s calm and rational demeanor and tries to find ways to get under his skin. in Welcome to Plathville in season 6 Barry met Kim’s boyfriend Ken Palmer face to face for the first time. Kim was waiting for them to meet, like she was waiting for them to fight over her. To her disappointment, the men were kind and respectful.
Kim’s Potential Season 7 Storylines
Will Kim remarry?
Kim’s relationship with Ken may play a bigger role in Season 7. Kim has already hinted that an engagement could be in her futurealthough his divorce is still not finalized. Kim may be rushing her relationship with Ken because she wants to stay in the spotlight. She knows that since her children are grown, she is in danger of losing her central role in the show. I think Kim sees her relationship with Ken as a way to keep all the attention on him.
Finalizing Kim and Barry’s divorce could also be a big part of season 7. Although they separated more than two years ago, their assets and disagreements over the custody of their minor children are holding up the dissolution of their marriage. Kim and Barry had little interaction during season 6but since they’ve officially filed divorce papers, tensions between the former couple could rise.

Now that Kim’s grown children have their own lives and relationships, Welcome to Plathville no longer revolves around him. I believe that Kim has started her spiritual evolution as a way to keep viewers interested in her. However, it is hypocritical of him to avoid the lifestyle he once imposed on his children. If Kim wants to get positive attention, she should admit the mistakes she made in the past. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely she’ll ever own up to her mistakes and instead continue to draw attention to herself in Season 7.
