Grab your duffle coat and dust off your little brown suitcase, folks, because we’re going on an adventure. Where are we off to, I hear you ask? Paddington’s houseof course.
You may have heard that very soon, everybody’s favourite cartoon bear will be heading to Peru to track down his Aunt Lucy. But while him and the Brown’s are away, they won’t be leaving their London gaff unattended. Instead, they’ll be inviting a few lucky families to come and stay, without having to pay a penny. In celebration of the release of the third instalment in the beloved film franchise, Paddington’s picture-perfect Primrose Hill pad will be welcoming three families for a once-in-a-lifetime staycaycourtesy of Airbnb. How bear-illiant?
What is included in the experience?
Located in one of the most charming pockets of the capital, the picturesque pastel townhouse on Chalcot Crescent will feature the actual furniture used in the films. Guests will feel like they’ve jumped straight through the screen and into the movie whilst exploring the house. From the winding staircase with its two-storey-high blossom tree mural to the vibrant living room with its retro carousel horse; each and every room will excite and delight fans of the films.
Exploring complete, visitors will then have the chance to indulge in a quintessential afternoon tea, complete with – you guessed it – marmalade sandwiches. Once filled-to-the-brim with delicious delights, families will be invited to the local cinema to be among the first to feast their eyes on the brand new movie, Paddington in Peru. Guests can then tuck themselves into one of the cosy beds for night, ready for a bear-inspired breakfast (your guess is as good as mine) in the morning before bidding the house farewell.
It’s pretty difficult not to have a soft spot for our little national treasure, Paddington. The beloved bear can single hand paw-dedly melt the icy exterior of even the frostiest of Londoners. But as Paddington-fever continues to sweep across the city, Primrose Hill locals are struggling with the constant ‘flow of tourists’ flocking to their area. Many concerns have been raised about the Airbnb listing by residents who think it will have a negative impact on their lives. So, if you do head to Chalcot Crescent to snap a pic in-front of Paddington’s pastel pad (we wouldn’t blame you for it; it’s ever-so photogenic), just be mindful of the fact that other people live on the road, too. Not just Paddington, believe it or not…
