Doug Hehner and his wife Jamie Otis Hehner are one of the few Married at first sight success stories. Doug and Jamie appeared in the first season of the show, which brings together strangers under the guidance of relationship experts. Couples meet for the first time on their wedding day. They spend a season together as a married couple before finally deciding to either stay married or divorce.




After their marriage, Doug and Jamie had five weeks to get to know each other and decide if they had a future together. Married at first sight season 1. They beat the odds to build a happy, healthy marriage after appearing on the show. Doug and Jamie never gave up on their love despite many rough patches. Doug and Jamie were married on March 23, 2014. Although the beginning of their relationship was understandably awkward, Doug and Jamie saw potential in their marriage and decided to stay together at the end of Season 1.

Doug and Jamie are the only couple from the first season to stay married. They have since appeared in several spin-offs. After the marriage they appeared inside Married at First Sight: The First Year. Doug and Jamie renewed their vows in 2015 in a televised ceremony in St. Thomas. In 2017, Doug and Jamie starred in the movie Married at First Sight: Doug and Jamie Plus Onewhich document their adjustment to parenthood.

Doug and Jamie are the parents of four children. Daughter Henley Grace was born in 2017, followed by son Hendrix Douglas in 2020. Doug and Jamie welcomed twins Hawkins Tyler and Huxley James in September 2024.


Doug and Jamie’s journey to becoming parents has not been easy. They have been open about their fertility struggles. In 2016, Doug and Jamie sadly lost their first son, Johnathan, in his second trimester, and they experienced several losses in their quest to expand their family. Fortunately, their story has a happy ending. Doug and Jamie were delighted when, after three years of trying, they naturally conceived their twins.

Before that, he was a customer manager at iCIMS and in sales at Nestle. Doug also has experience in athletics. He was a baseball coach from 2009 to 2013 and also worked as a lifeguard. Doug and Jamie have been busy renovating their home. With their growing family and the completion of their home, they are now looking to the future. Jamie reflected on their ten years of marriage while writing,For this next decade we settle into our forever home and welcome the sweet baby boys we prayed for over and over again.” Despite the problems they have faced in the past, their marriage seems to be stronger than ever.


Doug and Jamie’s journey has been a perfect example of the possibilities Married at first sight couples.
