Sister wives season 19 recently premiered, and one of the major plot points of the season is the Brown family’s large plot of land in Coyote Pass, Arizona, which has caused so much drama. Polygamous patriarch Kody Brown and his four wives bought the land several years ago. Many family members had big dreams, planning to build four separate homes on the lot. The idea was that each wife would get a plot of land and that their own children would one day build houses in Coyote Pass. The grandiose dream was that the whole clan could live in this country together and grow their own food. However, the family broke up before they could break ground.
Kody had four wives and 18 children, so the family needed a lot of space. When the family was a little smaller, they all lived under one roof in a big house in Utah. However, for many years they lived in four separate homes, with Kody traveling back and forth. Sometimes the homes were far apart. Kody and his spouse bought the land because they wanted to be closer to each otherbut by the premiere Sister wives in season 19, three of Kody’s wives had divorced. In many ways, the land has symbolized the breakup of the Brown family, and here are 10 examples of the Coyote Pass drama spiraling out of control.

Janelle would love to sell her share of the Coyote Pass land to Kody and walk away from the whole mess, but Kody wouldn’t tell her what he was going to do. He’s kept her out of the loop, so he is considering getting a lawyer to protect his financial interests. Complicating the issue is the fact that Janelle was never legally married to Kody. Therefore Sister wives the season 19 star has no legal claim to the property.
9 Meri Brown addressed the “unevenness” of the Coyote Pass lots.
Size matters
The Brown family’s plots of land in Coyote Pass, Arizona, varied in size and never made much sense. It seemed so the batches must be of the same sizeso that every wife could feel equal. During the 2023 period Sister wives talk backKody’s first wife, 53-year-old Meri Brown, handled the matter. During the TLC special, a fan asked:Why are Coyote Pass lots different sizes?“
“Seems like the fair thing to do would be to make them all the same?”
In response to a fan’s question, Meri explained the matter the family had bought the plots separately and they were the sizes they came. Meri was Kody’s first wife and married him in 1990. In 2022, Meri finally divorced Kody after 32 years of marriage and one child together.
8 Kody Brown’s “Camelot” dream of Coyote Pass was at its peak
He is not King Arthur
During the early period Sister wives season 19, Kody looked around at the empty land and lamented that his dreams of Camelot had died. Kody may not be willing to take responsibility for his many failures, but he couldn’t fulfill his vision because he never treated all of his wives like queens. In fact, Sister wives season 19 the actor kicked out three of his four wives, and these days he barely even speaks to his several grown children. He once envisioned himself living on an Arizona estate, surrounded by his wives, children, and grandchildren, like a king ruling his vast and glorious kingdom. Instead, he only has his fourth wife, 45-year-old Robyn Brown.
7 Meri Brown said division of Kody’s Coyote Pass property was not ‘fair’
Adding insult to injury
Kody’s first wife, Meri, often complained that the lot sizes at Coyote Pass were not equal. The sea was bitter because his plot was smaller than some others. The rest of the family disagreed with Meri’s complaint about the matter, as they all believed that Meri needed less land than the other wives.
While Janelle and Christine Brown each had six children and Robyn had five, Meri only had one child, so she wouldn’t need as much land.
Although there was some logic in that, Meri felt like she was being punished for it she lived with infertility problems and could not have more children. Meri grew up in a polygamous family and had always dreamed a lot about children. Therefore, taking over a smaller piece of land must have felt like an insulting injury.
6 Six years passed and Kody never broke on hallowed ground
Delay after delay
Kody bought four parcels of land in Arizona for $820,000 in 2018. After six long years, they still hadn’t broken ground on the land the family called Coyote Pass. A major reason for the delay is probably financial, as building on the plot would be expensive. The country has no existing infrastructure, so the Brownies would have to build everything from scratch. There is no plumbing or other basics. In addition to financial challenges the construction of the land was also delayed by all the conflict within the family. It also didn’t help that in 2020 the COVID-19 pandemic put the whole world on hold for several years. Kody’s land plans had to wait. At some point, the Browns may have to admit it was never meant to be.

Roughing It
Although the Brown family never broke ground at Coyote Pass, some of the Browns lived on the land for a short time. At one point, Janelle rented a house in Arizona, but had to move. Not knowing when they could build on the land, Janelle couldn’t afford to buy another houseand he didn’t want to get stuck with expensive rent. Janelle chose to live in a mobile home on the Coyote Pass lot with her youngest child, Savanah Brown.
Janelle was excited about the big adventure and seemed to genuinely make the best of the situation.
Kody, on the other hand, was a city slicker accustomed to a certain level of luxuryso he hated living in an RV during the nights he spent with Janelle. Living in an RV on an unfinished lot wasn’t exactly what her dream of Camelot was. Although the situation worked for a while, it was temporary and ended when Janelle decided to stop building Kody on the lot. Instead, he wanted to rent an apartment.
4 Kody & Robyn listed their Arizona home for sale
Are they leaving Arizona?
in August, AND! online reported that Kody and Robyn put their nearby Flagstaff house on the market, listing it for $1.6 million. The the purchase of the house caused conflicts within the familywhich didn’t feel like Kody should buy Robyn a luxury home. One of the reasons this was controversial was because some of the other wives were struggling financially.
At this point, the Browns haven’t filed a permit to build on the Coyote Pass land, so it’s unclear where the Browns plan to move their home after the sale.
Currently, Kody and Robyn live in their big, expensive house with their five children. When Robyn married Kody in 2010, she had three children from her first marriage. Kody adopted Dayton, Aurora and Breanna Brown in 2014. After their marriage Robyn and Kody have two children of their ownSolomon Brown and Ariella Brown.
3 Janelle is having financial problems because of Coyote Pass
money-matters”> Money matters
When Sister wives Kody, who premiered in 2010, had three wives and 12 children. This was before he added a fourth wife and six more children to the mix. The family was so big that they couldn’t find one house for everyone, and always needed to pay for several apartments. Although most of the brown adults worked, Kody and Janelle were the main breadwinners of the family. Janelle made a good living in real estate, but when it came time to buy a house recently, her money was tied up in Coyote Pass.
Instead of helping Janelle buy a home like he had with other wives over the years, Kody bought a large and expensive home for Robyn and her five children.
Kody was able to buy Christine out by only paying her $10 for her share because in the end she didn’t care about the money and just wanted to be free of Kody. After that, the other wives thought it was unfair Kody did not share Christine’s share with the otherskeeps everything to himself. It is unclear what will happen to Janelle and Meri on the Coyote Pass land. However, they both seem to have their finances in order after marriage.
2 Construction of Coyote Pass was delayed because the property was not paid for
They still owe $820,000
The main reason the family hasn’t built in Coyote Pass is because they don’t own the land yet. However, the details of Kody’s contract have always been a bit unclear. During the early period Sister wives season 19, Janelle discusses the matter with her daughter, 28-year-old Madison Brown. He said they must make a large payment of $820,000 within a few months or risk losing the land forever. Janelle’s frustration is compounded by the fact that she has no idea what Kody is thinking or if he’s going to pay the upcoming payment. For him Kody says he won’t tell Janelle about his plans because he doesn’t trust her anymore. Kody has barely spoken to Janelle and Christine since they walked in on him, and his communication with Meri isn’t much friendlier.
