TikTok has been flooded with videos of people trying Badiani’s gelato burgers for a while now, but the recent opening of their 14th London branch has brought a new wave of dessert worship. The beloved Italian gelato brand launched its new branch in Canary Wharf around three months ago, and with it being so close to its offices, it felt rude not to pop down and see what all the fuss was about.
From classic cups and cones to ice cream pastries, there’s a lot to offer at Badiani. But I only had eyes for the viral gelato burger, where you choose your favorite gelato scoop and sauce, all served inside a toasted brioche bun. The creation is £6.95 which I think is a reasonable price for London.
It was really satisfying to see the staff push the gelato between the buns in what looked like a waffle maker and then drizzle the green sauce over the scoop.

I went for their signature Buontalenti Pistachio flavor with pistachio sauce, and I don’t regret my choice. But even though the gelato itself was a smooth, rich and creamy pistachio, I could easily have done without the bun.
The first bite was warm but dry, with the pistachio goodness kicking in only after a few bites. While the combination of hot and cold was interesting, I didn’t feel like the bun added much to the experience, other than perhaps giving it its catchy title.
Badiani also offers gelato croissants, and I suspect it might be a better combination, with its buttery layers complementing the rich gelato, but that will have to be a taste test for another day. In addition to gelato, Badiani also offers sweet pastries such as cinnamon buns and almond croissants, along with Italian coffee. Their £4 coffee and pastry offer is a great breakfast offer.
The staff also recommended two must-tries for my next visit: their signature affogato and freshly made savory crepes. You can choose between a classic or beetroot base, with fillings such as mozzarella, tomatoes & rocket or ham & cheese.
The easiest way to access the ice cream shop is through Canary Wharf DLR station. Located in Cabot Place, if you go to the ground floor of the station and head towards the mall, you’ll find it right away.
I recommend visiting Badiani and I will definitely go back to try some of their other sweet treats. However, I don’t think the brioche bun is their standout item. Sorry TikTok.
