5 Zach needs to focus on himself after his health scare
He had a shocking near-death experience in 2023
Zach has been pondering medical issues for the past few years. She has the same dwarfism, achondroplasia, as Amy. He has had medical problems throughout his life a shunt inserted into his brain to drain cerebrospinal fluid. In 2006, Zach started having severe headaches and vomiting due to fluid blockage in the shunt. He was taken to the hospital and underwent a three-hour operation. Zach had another surgery in 2023 because his shunt was near death.
On Raising heightsZach and Tori said the doctors didn’t know what was happening to Zach and they had to “exploratory surgery.During surgery they saw it Zach’s shunt had failed. Doctors had to “drain the fluid manually” from his brain and successfully did so. He received a replacement shunt and has been better since. Zach grew up on the show, so it was exciting to see him achieve so many life milestones. However, due to a recent health scare, Zach has to focus on his health instead of filming.
