When it comes to beauty products, there is a whole range of options, many with expensive price tags. The cost of skin care creams and lotions can add up quickly, and that’s before you even start with your makeup.
But one savvy shopper says you could cut your bill by up to £250 by switching to dupers at high street chain Boots. Eilish Stout-Cairns, a deal hunter from the money saving community LatestDeals.co.uk took to Instagram (@latestdealsuk) to share her top picks from the store.
She shared eight beauty dupes for luxury brands including Charlotte Tilbury, Fenty, Benefit and more. The reel proved popular, garnering more than 400,000 views in 24 hours.
She started by sharing a dupe for the best-selling Charlotte Tilbury MagicCream. She said: “Revolution Pro Cream is a great alternative to the award-winning Charlotte Tilbury cream. The real thing is an eye-watering £79 for the 50ml pot. Revolutions is just £7.50, so it’s a fraction of the price.”
If you want to energize your skin, Eilish said Boots has a Glow Essence Serum, priced £5 as part of its own brand skincare range. This drops to £4.50 with a Boots Advantage Card.
She said: “It’s a great alternative to Glow Recipe’s serum at £33”.
And when it comes to showering, there is an option for that. One that has already been hailed by shoppers as ‘amazing’.
A review on the Boots site commented: “Smells so good just like sol de Janero but for a fraction of the price!!!!”
Eilish then shared a dupe of the popular Charlotte Tilbury Blush Wands, saying: “Elf have Halo Glow Wands in a couple of different shades for £9 each. I’d say it’s on the pricier side for Elf, a famously cheap brand. But they are great value compared to Charlotte Tilbury’s, which sell for £30 each”.
Boat buyers were also impressed and gave it 4.5 stars. One commented: “I recommend this blush 100%, it stays on the face all day and it’s super glowy so it gives you that natural look if you want.”
While the vast majority of reviewers gave it five stars, some were unimpressed. One wrote: “This blush was really patchy on me and dried really quickly so it’s a miss for me.”
Eilish then showed a dupe for a popular mascara and said “this Elf mascara is a dupe for Benefit’s Roller Lash”. The Benefit mascara costs £25.50 for the full size, while Elf’s is just £6.
It has 4.7 stars. A Boots reviewer commented: “Absolutely brilliant. I was using the more expensive brand with the pink and black tube but have been looking for something else and now I’ve found it.
“It stays on all day without flaking at all and gives me the power my straight lashes need. Will be my everyday mascara now.”
Next up was a dupe for Rihanna’s beauty brand, Fenty. She said, “The collection contour sticks are a dupe of the Fenty March Stix, which retail for £26. If you choose the collection stick, you’ll pay just £4.99, so more than £20 less”.
If it’s not for you, there’s another bronzer on sale that can do the job. Eilish said: “W7 bronzer is a dupe for the famous Benefit Hoola Bronzer.
“Benefit’s box bronzer is one of their most iconic products and will set customers back around £30. For a budget option, w7 is the way to go at just £4”.
And, finishing with another w7 make-up dupe, Eilish said: “Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lipstick is another of their cult products, but it’s expensive at £27. For an affordable alternative, I recommend the w7 lipstick in the shade Naked Desire. It’s a good alternative.”
The lipstick is currently £3.50 at Boots – but there’s a three-for-two offer on selected w7 products which makes it even cheaper. It has a 4.6 rating on the site with one reviewer saying, “Really nice moisturizing lipstick and a great color.”
Another was less satisfied but still gave it four stars. They said: “Really nice color and packaging. I had read about this product and thought I’d give it a try. My only disappointment is that the stick broke after a few wears.
She added that of the eight products alone, you can save over £250 with options on some of the best-selling products from popular, high-end beauty brands.
Tom Church, co-founder of money-saving community LatestDeals.co.uk said: “Dupes are a great way to get the look for less. The product won’t be exactly the same, with different formulas and packaging, but they give shoppers on a budget a chance to achieve a similar effect for a fraction of the price.
“Don’t forget to use your Boots Advantage Card to collect points on your shopping, and check for any offers to get the dupes even cheaper. Often you can get a discount on Boots own brand skincare for example. You just need to load all the relevant offers on your Advantage Card in the app”.
