You’ll soon be able to dine like a lord of the realm, as the Peers’ Dining Room at the House of Lords gets ready to open to the public next week.

Normally you would have to be a member of the House of Lords to dine there, but for a limited time only, it’s being opened to us laymen.

Be warned – this prestigious dining experience won’t last forever. The Peers’ Dining Room in Westminster will be open to the public for three weeks, from 10 June to 3 July, and available for lunch bookings only (excluding weekends). That doesn’t give you much time to pay a visit, and we’re expecting the restaurant to Book up fast.

The Peers’ Dining Room has hosted many famous prime ministers over the years, from Sir Winston Churchill to Margaret Thatcher, and that could soon be you.

For us regular folk who wish to experience the grandeur of the House of Lords, there will be a seasonal summer menu available for £55 per head, including coffee and petit fours.

Specific dishes have yet to be released, but examples of previous House of Lords menus have included Wye Valley asparagus with Kentish pea panna cotta and curly endive salad; Suffolk Baron Bigod cheese and Lincolnshire leek soufflé with confit leeks, House of Lords Champagne sauce; and poached Loch Duart salmon with crushed mint Jersey Royal potatoes, petit pois salsa and Hollandaise sauce.

Guests will also be able to enjoy a drink in the Peers’ Guest Room Bar before dining if they like, which boasts views overlooking the River Thames, while all lunch bookings will be available from 12pm and offer diners a two-hour time slot.

It’s a very private affair, with photography and the use of mobile phones prohibited while dining, and diners will be subject to a bag search on entry. Other than that, it’s set to be a lovely time! Bookings are open now so be quick if you want to nab yourself a seat.
