Will Garrick & Danielle Merrifield’s baby help their marriage? (Why I think they still have problems)

Looking for Sister Wife stars Dannielle Merrifield and Garrick Merrifield welcomed a beautiful baby girl in 2023, but unfortunately, their marital problems are likely to continue. Merrifields made her television debut during Looking for Sister Wife season 3 and returned for seasons 4 and 5. Their quest to add a wife to their family has led to several relationships with several women over the years, many of whom did not speak English.

During a recent episode Looking for Sister Wife season 5, as 40-year-old Garrick traveled to Brazil to marry Nathalia, his 26-year-old girlfriend Dannielle announced her pregnancy to Garrick on a video call. Garrick looked shocked, though he recovered quickly, and Garrick was right about this being a blessing. The Merrifields have two teenage sons together, but it was no secret that Garrick wanted more children. Now that 35-year-old Dannielle has given him a baby, will Garrick give up his desire for new wives?

“Baby’s Surprise”

Garrick and Dannielle were on the same page Looking for Sister Wife seasons 3 and 4, but Looking for Sister Wifein season 5, the Merrifields were more often at odds with each other. While mostly involved in the plan to change their marriage from monogamous to polygamous, Dannielle has been less passive this season. When Garrick told Dannielle he was ready to propose to Nathalia, Dannielle insisted it was too soon. He also allied Garrick with Nathalia when they discovered that she had not deleted her online dating profile.

Since the season hadn’t aired yet, the couple had to keep their baby a secret all this time, which couldn’t have been easy. TLC posted adorable photos of the Merrifields and their baby on Instagram in April 2024, with the caption reading in part: “Baby’s surprise.”

Divorce, two proposals and at least one wedding

After making his television debut in Looking for Sister Wife in season 3, the Merrifields married Roberta Pache in season 4. Roberta lived in Brazil, spoke no English, and could only communicate with the Merrifields through translation apps. For all that, Garrick ended his 13-year marriage to Dannielle so he could legally marry Roberta due to immigration purposes. He never moved to the US so it didn’t exist.

Danni was a bit shy about their experience with Roberta, which is understandable. He wanted them to slow down in their search for his sister-wife, but Garrick was even more determined to move fast and break things. He almost immediately found another brazilian lady who spoke a little english, except that he was almost 15 years younger than her. Garrick proposed to Nathalia with a ring that he realized was not to her taste, but she still said yes.

Why did Garrick & Dannielle choose polygamy?

Garrick’s Unique Biblical Reading

During Looking for Sister Wife season 5 premiere, Garrick explains a unique biblical reading which made him choose polygamy. Dannielle sat next to him during the interview, and Garrick revealed that God once came to them in the garage and told them to become polygamous. Garrick continued: “Many scriptures, terms that say he fills you with the holy spirit, that’s actually a sexual term. It actually means that sperms go into intimacy like that.”

So it showed the evidence of how Christ was with his church. As he transfers to us, we do not transfer to him.”

Garrick wants five wives

The last episode that aired ended with the pregnancy announcement, so it’s unclear if Garrick went through with the wedding with Nathalia after hearing the shocking news, or where Nathalia fits into this new family dynamic. He has not been mentioned People for an exclusive interview and will not appear on Garrick or Dannielle’s Instagram accounts. So called, if they can keep the baby a secret, they could easily keep the new brazilian wife a secret. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Nathalia walked away from Garrick after hearing about the baby.

Regardless of the status of Garrick and Nathalia’s relationship, he hardly stops looking for new wivesand makes Dannielle happy. During the interview with the producers I’m looking for a sister wife season 5Garrick says:I really feel that God promised our family more than Dannielle.” He added, “I mean, years ago I had a vision that I had five wives and they were good.” Garrick seems determined to continue on the polygamous path. While it’s possible that his beautiful baby will inspire him to focus on his existing family, that’s not Garrick’s style.
