World and characters Ring of fire has a long history before the character ever arrives, including events in its extensive canon such as Rann killing Godwyn.

In typical From Software fashion, the latest RPG epic from the Japanese game studio tells its story in a labyrinthine fashion, forcing players to work hard to fully understand what’s really going on in this abandoned fantasy world.

Ring of fire‘s universe is especially fleshed out thanks to help Game of Thrones creator George RR Martin (who helped create its seeping story during development).

Killing Rann Godwyn’s explanation

From the software

Ranni noita is one of the main characters of the film Ring of fireand is best known for killing the demigod Godwyn.

Not to mention that Rann’s killing of Godwyn the Golden is a central story Ring of firen base game, but the assassination event plays an important role in the open world RPG.

Before the player enters the Lands Between, the world Ring of fire is mired in the agony of a long-running conflict (of which this murder was a small part).

The game sees a once great country thrown into chaos after the shattering of the great Elden Ring.

The breaking of this sacred vessel created several almighty shards. These shards eventually fell into the hands of some demigod-like beings (including the fearsome Malenia and her family).

This created an endless war between the demigods for more control of the Elden Ring, a conflict that set the stage for what led to the Tarnished (player character) coming to take on these demigods.

Something that sets the stage for the arrival of the Tarnished is the killing of Godwyn.

Godwyn’s death was ultimately orchestrated by Ranni the Witch when she decided to stop working for the demigods.

Ranni the witch from Elden Ring
From the software

Ranni belonged to a secret organization in a distant country known as The Two Fingers. The demigods empowered this mysterious group to serve as their vassals and hopefully convey the will/power of the Elden Ring.

Upon leaving The Two Fingers, Ranni is forced to leave her empyrean body and give up her demigod powers to keep her spirit alive. To achieve this, however, he must sacrifice blood.

In order for Ranni’s spirit to live, another spirit must die at the same time. As a result of this grave realization, Ranni is forced to steal a piece of the demigod’s Death Rune from a blade-wielding Beast Cleric.

The young witch then absorbs the rune’s powers into the weapons of some Numen Assassins. The assassins then use these tools of death to kill Godwyn, causing Rann’s soul to transfer to the doll where he is seen throughout. Ring of fire.

It is not known definitively why Ranni specifically chose Godwyn (Malenai’s son), but some have theorized that Ranni’s intention was not to kill Godwyn at all. Some believe Marika ultimately chose Godwyn. Marika is the leader of the Black Knife Assassins (ie the Ranni group approaches to do the deed).

When players meet Ranni all the time Ring of fire through, they never run into Godwyn in any form just hearing about his story.

Ring of fire is now available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
