Meet Shayna Guy from Netflix’s Resurrected Rides

Shayna Guy

Shayna Guy graduated from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology

Shayna Guy graduated from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology with an associate’s degree.

In an interview with Auto Revolution High Octane Hustle podcast, Shayna looked back on her college experience and explained how it led to shaping her future.

In particular, Shayna talked about how she painted before going to school for collision repair. Then he talked a little about his degree and how he “worked as a damage assessor” before you want to come back “painting:”

“I went to Collision Repair at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in Pennsylvania, and got an Associate’s Degree in Collison Repair Technology, and then I worked as a damage assessor for a while, and I really missed painting, so I’d go into body shops whenever their painters were out and stuff.”

Shayna discussed how she got started “training with a helmet painter” so that he could finally start working for himself:

“Then, eventually, I hated working for other people, so I was like, ‘You know what, why can’t I just paint for myself?’ And then I started training with a helmet painter from Shippensburg. His name is The Bizarretist, and he’s an amazing helmet painter. He said, Hey, I think I want to teach somebody something,” and I said, “Why not?”

Shayna also talked about her relationship with Fogelsonger, specifically recalling the first time she worked under him and how they still stay in touch:

“I sent him this big thing. I was like, ‘This is what I’ve done, I’ve gone to school for Collision Repair (and) all this,’ and he said, ‘Great, just become a writer.’ It was very relaxed and I airbrushed the first night and it was a really cool relationship because I can call him anytime, even now.”

Shayna has been practicing airbrushing since 2016

Shayna’s airbrushing skills are impressive, but she hasn’t even practiced in 10 years, which is even more impressive considering she’s at the top of her trade.

In an interview with Mike’s Brush (shared via YouTube), Shayna talked a little about when she first started airbrushing and when she started using it. “seriously:”

“I’ve been airbrushing since 2016, and seriously since 2019, but I mean, I’ve been an artist my whole life. I’ve always wanted to do something art-related, but I’m not interested. Fine art is sitting in a studio.”

Shayna then discussed her love of airbrushing and how “it never feels like work:”

“I love it so much. I could paint all day, every day, and that’s why I do it. It never feels like work at any point, so I would never give it up for anything.”

Shayna thought his resurrected riding call was a hoax

On Elevated ridingShayna is a custom painter, which means she is responsible for painting various patterns on cars currently being worked on.

In an interview on the subject High Octane Hustle podcast, he briefly described what it was like filming the show and explained how he “painted all the cars in the show” and reveals that filming took a long time “four or five months:”

“I painted all the cars on the show, so it was a really fun time. We shot for four or five months last year, so it was really cool to do.”

Shayna then talked about her wild experience with the casting Elevated ridingexplaining how he originally thought it was a “hoax” when the acting company contacted him. He even asked his mother to look into the matter:

“The casting company, it was the perfect third part casting company, and they messaged me on Instagram and they commented on my picture and said, ‘Check your message,’ and I’m like, ‘Fake, 100%,’ because they said, ‘We’re casting company,” and I’m like, “This is so shady.” So, I read it and I didn’t answer it, and he texted me his number, he’s like, “You can call me, like, I promise you it’s not scam.’ Then I called my mom and said, ‘Can you research this company for me?’ because she’s very corporate and has all the employees of the company, so I’m like, ‘Can you research this company and tell me if they’re legit?'”

The Elevated riding the painter then described what his mother told him and his first conversation with the casting company:

“And he called me back, he’s like, ‘Go, I can’t find anything wrong with it, just see what it is.'” So they said, “Yeah, this is a car restoration show, we can’t tell you the streaming company, we can’t tell you anything other, but that’s just it,” and I said, “Col. And he said, “I’ll just do the interview, it’s out of my hands,” and I said, “Well, cool.”

The acting company returned with him and told him that they were “90% sure he would be on the show” and that he would be contacted further “Los Angeles Number:”

“So then I went through the interview process on video calls, two actually, and then I didn’t hear from them for a really long time. I didn’t hear from them for two months, and then I got a call and they said, ‘Hey, they’re 90% sure you’re going to be on the show,'” and I’m like, ‘Sweet,’ and then they say, ‘You come, I’m getting a call from a Los Angeles number,’ and I’m like, ‘Okay, cool.’

Shayna explained how “it took four months” without him hearing anything, but when he started getting phone calls, “they were Massachusetts numbers”, so he did not answer them:

“And then it’s been four months and I haven’t heard anything. So I’m like, ‘Okay, it’s just not happening, it was just cool that I was liked, it’s great that I even made it this far.'” And then I kept getting calls from these random numbers , and they were numbers from Massachusetts, so I’m like, ‘They’re scam calls or debt collection calls or whatever, I’m not answering that.’ So he texted me and said, ‘This is a production company, can you call me back?’

When Shayna finally realized through that text, she revealed that she reached out to them and found out that filming started in just a week:

“And I said, ‘Oh…yeah.’ And then I called them back and they said, “Hey, um, we’re going to start shooting next week,” so I’m like, “Okay, cool.”
