Evan Holtzman graduated from the University of Texas
Dallas native Evan Holtzman originally set out on a different path before turning to acting. He graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
According to Holtzman’s biography on his Vimeo account, he studied at the University of Texas for four years and, after graduating, spent two years in the oil industry, where he was responsible for designing rigs and platforms.
After two years in this field, Holtzman took a job with an energy engineering firm in Los Angeles, California. In LA, his life began to change significantly.
Evan continued acting after moving to LA
At first, Evan Holtzman didn’t want to act, but his roommate from California was an actor. This inspired Holtzman to enroll in acting classes, where the bug bit him first.
He immersed himself in art in several different studios in Hollywood. This development included a comedy study at Lesly Kahn & Company in 2013, a camera scene study in 2017 at Warner Loughlin Studios, and a master scene study at The Aquila Studios in 2019.
Working on Hit Man was Evan’s dream
An assassin was Evan Holtzman’s theater big break. The comedy was released in select theaters on May 24 before arriving on Netflix on June 7.
Glen Powell stars as a New Orleans police officer who takes part in a sting operation, covering up and posing as a hitman so the authorities can bring him down for hire.
Holztman plays Ray, a womanizer who hires Powell’s character to kill his spouse.
An assassin it was directed by Richard Linklater, who was responsible for hits, among other things School of Rock and Intoxicated and confused. Regarding his experiences working with Linklater, Holtzman had high praise for him (via Patrick Beatty Reviews):
“Oh, it’s a dream. (Richard Linlater) is so incredibly laid back. Of any director I’ve ever worked with, he just lets things happen as they are, and when people are working, he’s just enjoying his time.
The actress also mentioned how much effort Linklater went to to bond with her over their shared interests:
“He’s like, come over and kick with me, starts talking about baseball when we start shooting. (laughs) It’s like, ‘Should you be there? Are you good?’ And he’s like, no, he’s the most complete, reliable, professional I’ve ever worked with. Yeah, he’s been the absolute best.”
Evan Will is next starring in A24’s Warfare
Next up in Evan Holtzman’s Book is an A24 film titled Warfaredirected and written by Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza.
Little is known about it Warfaren’s story, much less Holtzman’s role in it, but the film also stars Will Poulter, Joseph Quinn and Kit Connor, among others.
