End Umbrella Academy Season 4 was such a shock to even the show’s most ardent fans that it left many wondering if something similar happened in the Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá comics the show is based on.
For the most part, the first three seasons of the Netflix series at least relatively followed the development of the main plot of the comics, although not always the exact story.

Will Umbrella Academy season 4 take place in the comics?
Unlike the three before it, Season 4 Umbrella Academy Netflix does not draw from cartoons, but tells the original story.
Fans might be curious about a recent post on X (formerly Twitter). Umbrella Academyofficial page. The post’s artwork depicts a comic Book cover showing one of the biggest twists of Season 4: Jennifer’s case.
Although the cover is drawn with the original Umbrella Academy artist Gabariel Bá, it’s not the cover of the actual comic. Rather, it’s a comic-inspired piece of art meant to show what a comic based on the events of Season 4 might look like.

How will the Umbrella Academy comics end?
Since last season Umbrella Academy wasn’t based on the comic book, fans may wonder how the source material ended differently.
The short answer is no. The comics are not done yet, the fourth series, Umbrella Academy: Sparrow Academycurrently under construction.
As the title suggests, it seems that this fourth series will not focus on the same things Umbrella Academy Season 4 did that, instead it was set to explore aspects of Season 3 that weren’t pulled from The Umbrella Academy: Hotel Oblivion.
Because the very negative response from fans ends Umbrella Academy At Netflix, Gerard Way and bá might take the opportunity to end the story of the comic book version in a different way instead of reinforcing what fans didn’t like about the show.
So if the comics even continue, keep developing Umbrella Academy: Sparrow Academy starting to resemble it Hotel Oblivionwhich does not bode well for impatient fans.
In the mid-2010s, Way took a long break from writing Umbrella Academy comics. He had originally announced a third series, Hotel Oblivionpublication date 2010. By 2013, he had shared it Hotel Oblivion was not releasing “For a really long time… because (Way is) going from comics to endless.” The book was not published until 2018, at the same time as the upcoming premiere of the Netflix series.
Now the Netflix series is complete, and it’s been years since the last major update on the fourth comic’s development, indicating that it could be a long time before the comic’s story continues. However, none of this has been confirmed and all fans know is that it could be on its way much sooner than expected.
