Comprised of a roster of iconic characters, Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play hero-based 6v6 shooter from Chinese developer NetEase.

Bringing the heroes and villains to life is a superb voice cast which features a few familiar faces – Jeff the Land Shark and Thor are just the latest to join the fray, with Jeff proving to be especially popular.

If you weren’t able to play the Marvel Rivals beta, will there be another before the game’s full launch?

For information on just that and more, it’s best you read on.

Here’s when the Marvel Rivals release date could be (according to us), if there’s a chance of another beta, which characters could come next, and how to stay up to date with official news for the game.

When is Marvel Rivals release date? Full launch speculation

A release date for Marvel Rivals is yet to be confirmed. However, if we were to speculate, we would guess that the game will be released in early 2025.

The game will be free to play, and you have been able to try it out as part of a closed beta that runs from late July to early August.

Hopefully, then, there is a chance we may see an open beta period towards the end of 2024 before launching next year.

The game will no doubt see rebalances in the interim based on telemetry and feedback from the betas, but we imagine it will play very similarly to how it did during the beta.

Dataminers unveiled more characters that are set to arrive as well, so there should be even more content to come.

You can check out the official announcement trailer just below for a good idea of what to expect in game.

Will there be another beta for Marvel Rivals?

There has been no confirmation from developers NetEase Games on whether there will be another Marvel Rivals beta or not.

Given the release date is yet to be revealed, too, we would be surprised if there isn’t another beta for the multiplayer game at some point in the near future.

Without official word (that we’ve seen) from the developer, though, it’s pure speculation on our front.

We’ll update this page with news on a new beta should NetEase confirm one. For now, though, there is no sign of another beta incoming.

Captain America is looking likely to be a new character in Marvel Rivals.

Thanks to a datamine from back in the closed alpha test, new playable characters have been leaked ahead of official reveal.

These datamined characters include Captain America, Moon Knight and Blade.

Check out the original datamine from Miller Ross below:

Since the closed beta, we know that Jeff the Land Shark and Thor are playable characters – both were in the datamine, which does lend it some credence.

With that in mind (and a healthy pinch of salt), the following 17 playable characters could all be on the way to Marvel Rivals:

  • Black Widow
  • Blade
  • Captain America
  • Cloak & Dagger
  • Hawkeye
  • Human Torch
  • Iron Fist
  • Invisible Woman
  • Moon Knight
  • Mr Fantastic
  • Psylocke
  • Squirrel Girl
  • The Thing
  • Ultron
  • Venom
  • Winter Soldier
  • Wolverine
