After popping up at the old XU site last winter, JKS and Luke Farrell are bringing back their bánh mì concept Viet Populaire for another pop-up, this time at Arcade Food Hall. Inspired by Hanoi-style streetside dining, Viet Populaire will be centred around bánh mì, with baguettes baked daily and fillings including pâté, butter mayo, head cheese (pressed ham with offal, tongue & fat), roast pork, pickles & fresh herbs; tofu, tomato sauce, pickles & fresh herbs; and a brekkie version with fried egg, paté, butter mayo, pickles & fresh herbs.
There’s only one thing that could go with Vietnam’s iconic sandwich and that’s Vietnam’s iconic coffee, so there’ll be plenty of phin coffee (dark filter coffee roasted with butter & vanilla and dripped onto condensed milk) on offer too. To celebrate the launch, Viet Populaire will be giving away 100 FREE bánh mìs from 12pm on opening day, so get down there early if you want a free sarnie!
