We bloody LOVE a good sarnie and we’re pretty practiced when it comes to eating them, so we decided we’d get into the sandwich making game as well and just in time for Sandwich Week and the Jubilee Bank Holiday too. We’ve teamed up with Mat & Jack’s, our Hackney neighbours, to create an epic limited edition sarnie especially for the occasion.
They may be newbies on the London sarnie scene, having only started slinging subs at the start of the year, but they’ve certainly made their mark already with monster hot subs inspired by American classics, like chicken parm with melted cheese and tomato & tabasco sauce, hot dipped roast beef with taleggio & giadiniera, and cheesesteak with beef fat fried steak, roast onions & American cheese. Now they’ve got the shutters up at their arch in London Fields so you can order in person as well as on delivery, and they’re slinging wild rice salads and loaded fries alongside the sarnies, plus filter coffee and drinks from local producers.
A Platinum Jubilee isn’t something that comes around very often so our collab sandwich is a take on coronation chicken-meets-kebab shop-meets chip butty…..what’s more British than that? The Lovely Jubbi-LOTI includes chicken madras shish marinaded in garlic, ginger, lemon & yoghurt and cooked over coals, topped with coronation slaw (that’s white cabbage, apples, sultanas, dill & vinaigrette), matchstick fries tossed in house herb salt, and homemade hot honey, all stuffed into a house-baked sub roll. BOOM.
This baby will cost you £8 and will make your lunchtime infinitely better, but it’s only sticking around for two weeks with limited numbers per day, so you definitely don’t want to sleep on this.
