Leon Brown made his television debut during the 2010 premiere of the beloved unscripted series. Sister wives, but where have they been since appearing on the show? Leon, who is transgender, was born Mariah Brown on July 29, 1995, but stopped being Mariah when they moved in 2022. Leon is the only child of Kody Brown and his first wife, Meri Brown. Leon’s father married three other women; Janelle Brown, Christine Brown and Robyn Brown and had a total of 18 children.

The eldest of 18 Brown children, Leon grew up in a rowdy household, and things got even crazier when their family became subject to the sister wives. Leon was then about 15 years old Sister wives premiere, and it must have been awkward go through adolescence on television. Over the years, Sister wives continued the breakup of the Brown family as three of Kody’s four wives divorced him, so Leon understandably has a complicated relationship with their time on the show.

In February 2023, Leon’s sister, Gwendlyn Brown posted a YouTube video in which he reacted to the episode Sister wives season 17, episode 9. Gwendlyn is Kody’s daughter with Christine, his second wife. During the episode, Kody commented that Leon didn’t fit into the family, and Gwendlyn strongly disagreed. Gwendlyn explained that since Leon came out as transgender, they decided to separate themselves from the show and family. Although Kody and his wife have said they support same-sex marriage, the family is very Mormon, and the Mormon church has not traditionally welcomed LGBTQ people.

Gwendlyn, who is herself in a same-sex marriage with her partner Beatriz Queiroz, insisted that Leon did not fit in, and that Leon had chosen to spend time in safer spaces.

Leon married Audrey Kriss

Kody and his wife did not attend Leon’s wedding

In 2022, Leon married Audrey Kriss in a private ceremony attended by none of the Browns. Leon and Audrey are both transgender, Leon coming out in 2022 and Audrey in 2021.

Leon met Audrey in college and after two years of dating, they got engaged while attending the 2019 Women’s March in Washington DC.

By In touchLeon and Audrey were married in October 2022 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. No one else was present during their ceremony, and no officiant oversaw their union. Instead, the wedding was recorded “independently“an event which means Leon and Audrey, as a rule, delivered their union without witnesses in the room.

Leon has become an activist on Instagram

“We continue to be born”

Leon may have mixed feelings about the show, but they’ve taken their time performing Sister wives for. They have used their fame to fight for the things they care about. In July 2023 Leon posted an Instagram photo of himself in a rainbow pride flag hammock during gay pride.

a reminder that you can’t stop erasing trans people from existence. we continue to be born, live, thrive and find our joy

What has Leon been up to in 2024?

They are estranged from their family

Throughout 2024, Leon has mostly stayed out of the spotlight. They haven’t appeared yet Sister wives season 19 and there is very little hope that they will appear before the end of the season. Leon didn’t get much positivity from their family, especially from their father, Kody, when he came out as transgender in June 2022. However, Meri, their mother, supported Leon and who they are. Although Leon is still close with Meri, Leon will probably still stay away from the cameras this year. Regardless, Leon has been busy doing other things this year.

Leon hasn’t posted much on social media this year, but has in the last month. On September 15th Leon shared a carousel of pictures of what they did during the summer. In the photo series, Leon has several with his partner Aubrey and their adorable dogs. The couple seems to live in an area with a lot of nature, unlike somewhere in a metropolitan area. Janelle Brown even commented on the post saying:I adore you two“with heart eye emojis.

In another Instagram post on September 26 Leon revealed that they started understacking where they write about their lives. Leon wrote their first post last month when they discussed turning 29 in the summer and how they feel about life after all these years. Leon has shared other songs on his subtack that fans can read if they subscribe (via Leon writes). Until now, the year 2024 has been a reflection for Leon.

Will Leon ever return to the Sister Wives?

It’s highly unlikely

Growing up and moving home, Leon hasn’t done much Sister wives appearances. Their most recent involvement with the show was during COVID-19 when Leon and Audrey moved in with Meri during the lockdown. Leon hasn’t appeared Sister wives since they migrated and although they may occasionally appear when they visit Meri, they are unlikely to play a significant role in the play moving forward.
