The program tells about polygamous families who are looking for new wives. The couple had been in a monogamous relationship for 13 years and had two children together before they decided to open up their marriage to an additional spouse. The Merrifields didn’t find their new spouses during season 3, so they returned for seasons 4 and 5.
The Merrifields dated several women Looking for Sister Wife. During Season 3, they dated Roberta Pacha, a Brazilian woman who did not speak English and needed a translation app to communicate with the Merrifields. They continued to date Roberta in season 4, but when they brought Leah, Roberta dumped them. Leah left them soon after, and Looking for Sister Wife in season 5 Merrifields met Natalia Lima, another Brazilian woman who spoke little English, but the relationship also did not last. Dannielle broke the news of her pregnancy to a shocked Garrison in a FaceTime online chat that appeared on camera during the season finale. Garrick had left for Brazil more than six weeks earlier to marry his girlfriend, Natalia. According to Dannielle the couple had barely spoken since he left. Dannielle had originally planned to travel to Brazil with Garrick, but they were not in a good place, so Garrick went alone. Just as it looked like Garrick and Dannielle’s marriage was on the rocks, the Merrifields found out they were pregnant with their third child.
After the episode aired TLC posted adorable photos of the Merrifields and their baby on Instagram, with the caption reading: “Baby’s surprise.” according to PeopleGarrick and Dannielle’s adorable baby daughter, Leia Lilly Melisa Merrifield was born on May 17, 2023. Since the season hadn’t aired yet, the couple had to keep their baby a secret from the public until the season finale.

Before appearing on the reality show, the Merrifields were monogamous for 13 years. The couple’s decision to try polygamy came from Garrick’s unusual interpretation of the Bible. Contrary to popular belief, not all polygamists are Mormons. Garrick and Dannielle are Christians, and the Bible inspired Garrick to try plural marriage. In an on-camera interview, Garrick said:A lot of the scriptures, the terms that say he fills you with the holy spirit, that’s actually a sexual term.”

Dannielle and Garrick’s journey to find a sister wife
They are technically divorced
After dating during Roberta Looking for Sister Wife in seasons 3 and 4, Garrick wanted to bring Roberta to the United States from Brazil. Therefore for immigration purposes he had to divorce Dannielle to marry Roberta. Dannielle was devastated and cried as she signed the divorce papers ending her 13-year marriage.
With their legal marriage dissolved, Dannielle would have no right to Garrick’s property if anything happened to her.
In the end, Roberta blackmailed them and dumped them via text, leaving Garrick to break Dannielle’s heart and risk her family’s financial security for nothing. It is unclear whether Dannielle and Garrick legally remarried after their failed relationship with Roberta. Since they are such devoted Christians, it is hard to imagine that they would allow their daughter to be born out of wedlock.

Although Garrick remained determined to take another wife, Dannielle changed her mind about plural marriage. Regardless of Dannielle’s feelings, there is no doubt that Garrick is the one wearing the pants in the relationship. The Merrifields were one of the series’ most popular couplesso there’s no doubt that the producers will ask the couple to return Looking for Sister Wife season 6, and there’s even less doubt that the Merrifields would eagerly embrace it.
