The human race is nothing if not an innovative bunch. And something that demonstrates this well is our relentless determination to find new ways to ‘look after ourselves’. Whether that’s intravenously ingesting an optimal amount of vitamins, defying the process of ageing with extreme temperatures and LED light, or simply using crystals to banish the bad vibes – we will stop at nothing to reach that higher state of being. Not to go all Goop Lab on you, but we’ve partnered with South Western Railway to round up a few of our favourite wellness trends that you might want to try…

1. Cryotherapy

Whilst some wellness trends aficionados might be well acquainted with Cryotherapy, others may have only glimpsed it through their TV screens thanks to a band of Beverly Hills-based housewives. So for the benefit of the newbies among you, Cryotherapy is essentially a treatment that uses sub-zero temperatures, offering an impressive array of health benefits.

From helping with pain relief and inflammation to burning calories and promoting brighter, tighter, more radiant skin, it seems there’s little this frosty therapy can’t do. But alongside localised and full body Cryotherapy and CryoSkin facials, LondonCryo also offers a range of other treatments such as detoxifying Infrared Saunas and massages if you’re feeling a little shy of the cold!

2. IV Vitamin Drip

Whatever aspect of your physical health you might hope to improve, the chances are you’ll find an IV Vitamin Drip especially for it at Get A Drip. With their extensive menu, you can opt for something as simple as a general detox or energy boost drip, or select a cocktail of vitamins specifically designed for hair health, skin health, anti-ageing, fitness, and more.

But what’s the need for the needle? Well, taking these vitamins directly into your bloodstream means they bypass the gut, allowing for much higher levels of absorption and longer-lasting results. Essentially, it’s supposed to be a more efficient way of achieving the result than taking a daily supplement pill. And you didn’t hear it from us, meant to work wonders if you’re feeling a bit, er, worse for wear. Visit before the end of Jan to get 25% off! Multiple Locations

3. Somadone meditation and lymphatic body rollers

The team at Re Place take a two-pronged approach at their mission of improving lymphatic health, body confidence, and inner vitality. Prong One, otherwise known as their innovative body rollers, promote lymphatic drainage, reduce cellulite and help with weight management as well as enhancing sleep, boosting energy, and optimising the metabolism. *breathes*.

The Somadone is a specialist meditation pod that combines ancient healing practices with modern technology to create a tranquil space that allows you to transcend your immediate conscience, and this is Prong Two. This rejuvenating experience is supposedly great for relaxation, stress reduction, and mental clarity – all things we could use a little more of in 2024. You can try it out with a one-off session, and then browse their different membership plans if you want to carry on. 2A Chepstow Road, W2 5BH

4. Wes and Sandy’s pick of the week

South Western Railway’s winged friends, Sandy and Wes are always ready to share their top London recommendations. Sandy loves the arts, theatre, and lunching with the girls, while Wes loves clubs, pubs, and going to gigs with his mates. But one thing they will never disagree on is their love of pretty, shiny things. Like a lot of alternative wellness trends, crystal healing tends to divide people. But vast uptake in recent years has been enough to cause some of the most steadfast naysayers to falter in their disbelief.

Thought to have spiritual, emotional, and physical benefits, crystal healing is all about rebalancing the energy level in your chakras, or ‘energy centres’. And Healing Space in Hackney is just one of the great spots in London where you can dip your toe in the bejewelled pond, so to speak. Their team of practitioners specialise in everything from fertility and childbirth to mental health and trauma – but you don’t need to be seeking help for anything in particular. And the best part is, once you’ve learned the basics from the experts, you can get your own crystals and continue to implement the practice in your day-to-day life. 38 Chatsworth Road, Lower Clapton, E5 0LP

5. LED Therapy

Dermatologists, celebrities, influencers (and anyone who stays onto of wellness trends!) all have their swear-by bible when it comes to the secrets of achieving amazing skin. For some it’s a meticulously tried and tested regime of products used morning and night, for others it’s a monthly facial. But one thing we’re seeing time and time again on our feeds is people wearing these slightly alarming glowing masks. And no, they’re not doing research for their next Halloween costume.

LED light therapy uses non ultraviolet light to treat anti-ageing, inflammation, acne, and other skin conditions such as psoriasis. The procedure is non-invasive and one session typically lasts about twenty minutes. It’s available in salons all over London at varying prices, but a couple of more budget-friendly options are Attraction Hair and Beauty Salon and Marhaba Beauty Clinic that both offer LED treatments for under £50. It’s certainly one alternative to dousing your face in a cupboard full of creams and serums before bed.
