UK airport reveals £120m renovation that will make flying much easier for passengers

Brits travelling through one of the UK's much-loved airports will soon be able to get to their flights much easier.

East Midlands Airport has revealed plans for a huge £120million renovation project with the main aim of speeding up the queues at security.

Work includes new body and baggage scanners as part of a rollout across the UK which will see the ban on more than 100ml of fluids scrapped.

The security hall will also be expanded, with other works improving the toilets and seating. The drop-off area at the front of the airport also gets a revamp.

Work at the hub - named best medium sized airport in the country last year - has already started, and will continue for the next five years.

Around four million passengers use East Midlands Airport a year, with budget airlines such as Ryanair, TUI and Jet2 in operation.

It's not the only UK airport currently undergoing huge renovation works. Teesside Airport, named the best small airport last year, has revealed plans for a new £20m train station.
