Top BBC presenter steps down from role she's had for 30-years

One of the BBC's best-known presenters has stepped down in an emotional last show after 30-years.

Kirsty Wark presented Newsnight for the last time in an emotional farewell.

Kirsty wiped away tears as she signed off for the final time, telling viewers the experience had been "an honour and a blast".

Kirsty studied history at Edinburgh University and landed a job as a researcher at BBC Radio Scotland before moving into television in the early 1980s.

She joined Newsnight back in 1993 alongside legendary presenter Jeremy Paxman and has also presented Newsnight Review since 2001.

Former Newsnight colleague Emily Maitlis said: 'Kirsty Wark is quite simply unparalleled. Newsnight queen.'

Kirsty, 69, who is married to film producer Alan Clements, 63, will go on to present the Radio 4 show, Front Row.
