Tiny 'Turkish' island that's actually Greek… with turtles, cheap beers & blue caves
This pretty island 30 minutes off the coast of Turkey is actually Greek
Despite its proximity to the Turkish mainland, Meis, also known as Kastellorizo, belongs to Greece
It was given to Greece in the 1947 Paris Agreement after being occupied by the French and the Italians during WWII
Just 350 locals live there but during the busier summer months the population number hits around 1,000
The island is so small it only takes 30 minutes to walk to each side
Brightly coloured restaurants and cafes line the waterfront selling cheap local beers such as Mythos
Fresh seafood is the most common choice in restaurants along with pork chops and sausages
