The village with 174 potholes on one road - which locals say is like surface of the moon

A village with 174 potholes in just 200 yards of one of its main roads is fast becoming a no-go zone for cars.

The suspension-shattering stretch is so bumpy jokers have changed the welcome sign for Wrenbury-cum-Frith to Wrenbury-cum-pothole.

Another sign warns drivers that the crumbling streets in the Cheshire village will “break your vehicles — and your soul”.

Villagers have compared the potholes to the craters on the moon or a warzone.

Villager Lauren Ridgway said: “It’s like a third-world country but I think third-world country roads would actually be better."

The council has said it has a £600,000 repair scheme in the works to improve the local road.

Potholed streets have become a major issue around the country with a combination of flooding and cold snaps causing roads to break-up.
