The richest stars in sport - as wealth experts Forbes reveal a £200m+ man

At No7 is Neymar. The Brazilian, 32, signed for Saudi side Al-Hilal last summer on a £63m salary, but has spent much of the year out with an ACL injury. He also has a string of partner brands, including Puma and Honda worth around £22m.

Sixth is Kylian Mbappe, who has just played out the final year of his £71m-a-year contract with PSG. The Frenchman, 25, who is on the verge of joining Real Madrid, pockets a further £16m from endorsements with brands including Nike and Louis Vuitton.

Next is NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo. The "Greek Freak", as he is branded by Nike, also has endorsements with the likes of Tissot and 2K Sports - with his off-court earnings totalling £51m - adding to the £36m he pockets from the Milwaukee Bucks.

In fourth is NBA superstar LeBron James, 39. He's earned £38m over the last year from the LA Lakers. He has endorsements from the likes of Nike, while he co-owns his own Springhill production company, taking off-court earnings to £63m.

In a distant third is Lionel Messi, who moved from PSG to Inter Miami a year ago. The Argentine, 36, has pocketed £107m in total: £52m in wages and £55m in off-field endeavours from deals with likes of Adidas, Budweiser and the Saudi Tourism Board.

Second, and the only golfer to reach the top 10, is LIV star Jon Rahm. The Spaniard, 29, defected to the Saudi-backed tour last December.  It helped him pocket £156m from golf, to go with the £16m in endorsements from brands including Rolex.

At No1 is Cristiano Ronaldo thanks largely to his mega deal in Saudi. He earned £158million in wages and a further £47m in off-field endorsements. His lucrative brand deals include the likes of Nike, Armani, Tag Heuer and Pokerstars, among others.
