Lonely Planet has revealed the best beaches in the world - and four seaside spots in the UK made the list along with locations in Australia, Thailand and Italy.
Rhossili Bay, Wales
Rhossili Bay, featuring three miles of golden sandy shore, is widely regarded as one of the UK's finest surf beaches.
The beach has been praised for its wildlife-watching, with visitors able to spot choughs, kestrels and buntings, as well as grey seals and harbour porpoises in the
Gower's waters.
Durdle Door, England
Durdle Door, on Dorset's Unesco-protected Jurassic Coast, was hailed for its "limestone sea arch" with beachgoers climbing down 140 steep steps to get to it.
Kynance Cove, England
Located in Mount’s Bay, Kynance Cove is a small Cornish beach. "And on a sunny blue-sky day, Kynance easily rivals any beach in the Caribbean."
Lonely Planet highlighted its "craggy serpentine-rock outcrops, stone-carved arches and grassy green headlands".
West Beach, Scotland
Stretching for three miles, West Beach, on the island of Berneray, was described as a "wildly remote jewel" by the judges, with "powdery silver-white sand".
