Noah Lyles won by the finest of margins. He pipped Jamaica's Kishane Thompson by 0.005 seconds to secure 100m gold at the Paris Olympics.
Lyles, 27, has won his first Olympic gold medal with the most dramatic of finishes. The Florida-born champion achieved a time of 9.79(.784) - clearing Kishane Thompson's 9.79(.789) effort.
TV footage captured Lyle's live reaction as he found out he'd won. After victory, an ecstatic Lyles said: "You couldn't have asked for a bigger moment."
Kishane Thompson finds out that he didn't win. Fans will have felt his pain after the most excruciating of defeats - but he still leaves with the silver medal.
This was the official confirmation that Lyles had won. He completed a memorable turnaround after appearing well out of the gold medal spot.
All eight men broke ten seconds in an incredible final. As the runners crossed the line, there was a nervous wait to see who had triumphed in the photo finish.
Lyles held the US flag aloft after his moment of triumph. He then beamed: "I hope you guys like Noah because I got a lot more coming!"
