I’m a pro golfer with £7m in career earnings but I also have a pilot’s licence and am heir to a billion-dollar fortune

With a name like Maverick McNealy, you have got to stand out from the crowd. And the American golfer is certainly doing that - especially away from the course.

Born in 1995, McNealy was a world No1 amateur and college star who equalled the 18-hole Stanford record of 61 set by Cameron Wilson and Tiger Woods before turning pro in 2017.

The 6ft 1in Californian has already seen his caeer earnings soar to £7m - but it's off the course that he's really hitting the heights after qualifying as a pilot last year at the age of 27.

The rising star called it 'without a doubt one of the most rewarding things I’ve done in my life' and means he can take his stunning wife Maya for a cruise.

The pair tied the knot last year - although McNealy previously dated fellow golfer Danielle Kang for two years.

And while his earnings so far trail the likes of Tiger, Rory and Co, he could still be the world's richest golfer due to his billionaire dad Scott, who sold his tech firm Sun Microsystems to Oracle for a whopping £5.8billion in 2010.

But while he should be on for a nice inheritance, Maverick insists he never got a free ride from his dad - and even feared he'd have to pay him rent to stay at home once he'd finished college.
