Alton Towers ride makes hugely anticipated return after 17-month makeover

Alton Tower's Nemesis Reborn has officially reopened after an extensive refurbishment project

Time-lapse footage released by Alton Towers shows the mammoth effort to deconstruct and restore the 250-tonne track

Technicians were spotted in cranes inspecting the track’s infamous inverted loop  during the final week of preparations

Meanwhile, workers were seen installing over 100 metres of specially crafted tentacles and innovative audio-visual technology

When it first opened in March 1994, Nemesis was Europe’s first inverted rollercoaster

It has since travelled the equivalent distance to circling the world over 32 times

Nemesis has been at Alton Towers for 30 years and is a favourite among theme park fans
