I tested supermarket sausage rolls - the winners are just 25p each

Quite bland, these definitely needed more seasoning. The meat was verging on tasteless. They were the cheapest in our test though, so if you are watching your bills, that's a plus.

Lidl Chef Select Sausage Rolls (360g)

Well filled but I thought these were too dry, especially the meat. Overly salty and the highest in calories and fat, too. Not an experience I'd care to repeat.

£1.95  for 6  54p  per 100g   4/10

Asda Pork Sausage Rolls (360g)

Pretty good sausage rolls, not as fatty or salty tasting as others. The sausage meat was nicely seasoned and the pastry was soft and flaky.

Tesco Sausage Rolls (360g)

The salt and black pepper seasoning was just right and created a delicious balance against the quality-tasting pork meat. The pastry was well made and flaky.

£2  for 6  45p  per 100g  8/10

Morrisons Fresh Bake Pork Sausage Rolls (444g)

Dainty but divine, these Sainsbury's sausage rolls were picnic perfect. Not the cheapest supermarket option, but taste wise they really hit the spot.

£2  for 9 74p  per 100g  8/10

Sainsbury's Snack Sausage Rolls (270g)

Pricey but delicious, I was a big fan of these. They were well filled with perfectly seasoned sausage meat and incredibly moreish.

£3.50 97p  per 100g  9/10

Waitrose Summer Sausage Rolls (360g)

Deliciously flaky and crispy, the pastry of these rolls was a great contrast to the meaty tasting sausage. Amazing choice for the price, they work out less than 25p each.

Aldi Crestwood Ready to Eat Sausage Rolls (360g)
