I tested all the supermarket flavoured gins from Aldi to Sainsbury’s and a £13.99 orange tipple beat them all
Gin can be expensive - but there are plenty of flavoured gins in the supermarkets for more affordable prices. The Sun's drinks expert Helena Nicklin gives her verdict.
70cl, £13.99, Aldi
Greyson’s Mediterranean Orange
5/5
Comes in a very cool bottle – and the contents aren't half bad. Gorgeously gluggable with juicy, warming flavours and sweet aromatics, it’s ridiculously easy drinking.
70cl, £14.99, Lidl
Hortus Orange & Passionfruit
3/5
Tropical on the nose and slightly sweet. A smidge synthetic but when mixed with a fruity tonic and some fresh fruit it finds its feet. Worth a go.
70cl, £17, Sainsbury’s
Blackfriars Scottish Raspberry & Rhubarb
2/5
Sounds like it should be sweeter and fruitier than it is. Still, if you like your gin very floral and aromatic, with some serious tartness you’ll
be a fan.
70cl, £15, Asda
The Distiller Raspberry Lemonade Flavoured
3/5
Heavy on the raspberry – but not in an unpleasant way. The lemony citrus element adds a splash of sweetness with acidity, which gives a lovely balance.
70cl, £14.99, Tesco
Limehouse Orange& Mango
3/5
Lots of flavour that doesn’t overpower, it’s one that will sing with lemonade or a full-fat Indian tonic. But it would also make a great twist for fruity cocktails.
70cl, £20, Morrisons
Whitley Neill Japanese Cherry Blossom
4/5
A pricey option but you get top tier on taste. Fragrant rather than saccharine sweet. Sipped with a simple tonic and ice, it’s sensational.
