Another airline scraps free hand luggage ahead of the summer holidays

Corendon Airlines has become the latest company to introduce charges for passengers travelling with just hand luggage.

Passengers flying with the Turkish airline will have to pay €15 to take any bag "larger than a small accessory" onboard.

The airline operates a number of flights from the UK, including routes to Dalaman and Antalya from London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, Bristol, and Glasgow.

Airlines have been cracking down on cabin bags in recent months due to limited space in the overhead lockers and to avoid delays before take-off.

Finnair unveiled its new basic air fare, launching in June, which no longer includes a free suitcase in the cabin.

Ryanair, easyJet and Wizz Air scrapped free hand luggage years ago - only allowing passengers to take a small bag for free.

However, other airlines such as TUI, British Airways and Jet2 still allow their customers to board their planes with two items.
