Waterstones Back On Oxford Street For First Time In Eight Years

Nothing brings a certain kind of content as browsing through a bookshop, darting your eyes between the covers and words that surround you. It’s the perfect form of escape that is the very act before the other form of delicious escapism – actually sitting down to read your new book.

Good news, therefore, for those who like a Central London browse, as Waterstones has conformed it will return to Oxford Street next month for the first time in eight years. The chain bookstore is slated to arrive at Oxford Street on October 8, promising a range of around 20,000 different titles.

This time around, the store is due to open inside the branch of John Lewis on Oxford Streetand is the first store since the final Oxford Street store of the four that once stood there was forced to close. It comes as part of an overall to the Oxford Street John Lewis, which is also set to include a new beauty hall as well as 1864 Rooftop Bar & Kitchen – their newly-opened, sky-high drinking and dining spot!

Speaking on the news of the new opening, COO of Waterstones Kate Skipper said: “We are thrilled to be working with John Lewis on this exciting new partnership and delighted to be returning to Oxford Street this Autumn.”

The new store on Oxford Street will mark the latest Waterstones branch in a total of more than 290 locations across the UK, Ireland, and mainland Europe. Find your nearest store here.
