There’s nothing quite like a major sporting event to get Londoners into the spirit of summer. And with Wimbledon officially underway (and others on the horizon), there’s a lot to be getting excited about. But what if we told you you could enjoy all of the action on the big screen, whilst soaking up the sunshine? This July, August and September, there will be an outdoor screen in St James’s Market showing Wimbledon (July 1-14), the Olympics (July 26 – August 11) and the Paralympics (August 28 – September 8) absolutely free of charge. You don’t even need to book, you can just show up and grab a spot!

Lounging in a deck chair, surrounded by the gorgeous architecture of St James’s sounds like a pretty ideal set up to us. What’s more, whilst you’re there you’ll have an array of fantastic food and drink options to explore, should you be in need of some viewing refreshments.

If you want to grab something easy (and extremely delicious) to keep you going in between games (or to eat in front of the outdoor screen in St James’s Market!), Ole & Steen’s freshly baked Danish pastries are a great option. But should you be after something a little more substantial, ‘O ver’s authentic Neapolitan pizza is a winner, every time. you can also tuck into authentic Indonesian delicacies at Toba or succulent chicken at Fowl if you’re hoping for a sitdown affair.

With such an abundance of independent boutiques and flagship stores nearby, why not make a day of it and fit some summer essentials shopping into the schedule? From Burberry and lululemon on Regent Street to the likes of Fortnum and Mason, Luca Faloni and Floris in St James’s, the world class retail offering in these historic neighbourhoods is truly unparalleled.
