Christmas is a time when cheese takes center stage, especially if you love a buffet. But with many of us reducing or eliminating dairy from our diets for various reasons, there is a growing demand for plant-based alternatives.

Enter Honestly Tasty, a company that prides itself on creating delicious plant-based cheeses for those who prefer to avoid dairy. Despite concerns that plant-based alternatives may lack the texture and flavor of traditional cheese, Honestly Tasty has been awarded four “Great Taste” stars, indicating that their products are so delicious they will be the star of any vegan cheese board.

There are an estimated 1.4 million vegans in the UK as of 2023. Additionally, around 26% of UK households avoid dairy, according to the 2022 UK Free-From Foods Market Report.

This year, Honestly Tasty offers a nostalgia-themed cheese board with Pretenslydale, a cranberry-packed version of classic Wensleydale, Smoked Good-a, a nod to Gouda lovers, and Ched Spread and Chilli Ched Spread, inspired by cheddar.

Expect to see bestsellers and award winners like Blue, Shamembert (which melts like Camembert), Bree and Garlic and Herb, which has drawn comparisons to Boursin from satisfied customers. This year there’s even a new Christmas special – a cheddar-like block with caramelized red onions for a sweet and savory balance.

Three baskets are on offer, with prices ranging from £45 to £69. The larger options include plant-based meat options and crackers for a full board, reports the Manchester Evening News.
