This German company, which has been around for over a century, is one of Europe’s leading toy manufacturers. Ravensburgers first game, “A Trip Around the World,” was released in 1884, and the company has since created thousands of picture books, activity games, and model building and art instruction books. Today, the company owns BRIO, a Swedish toy manufacturer, and Thinkfun, an American toy manufacturer, as well as a strategic investment in Wonder Forge, an American gaming start-up. Carlit, FX Schmid and Alga are among Ravensburger’s brands.

Ravensburger had over 800 products before the First World War. The publisher was damaged during World War II, but it continued to make games during the Restoration years. From 1962, the company concentrated on children’s games and books, as well as specialist books for art, architecture and hobbies. In 1964, the company began manufacturing puzzle games and opened subsidiaries in Austria, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the UK in the same year. In 1977, the company was split into two parts: a Book publishing division and a game publishing division.
