It’s the end of the summer and it means for a lot of young Londoners in the city, it’s the time to prepare for university. Whether it’s picking your choices or making a final decision, it can be quite a daunting process. The good thing is, it’s also the season of university rankings.
With leading institutions publishing their choices, we hope that in return it will validate some of yours especially if you’re choosing to stay in London! The Daily Mail as well as the Academic Ranking of World Universities recently published their lists which included a number of London universities. And now, the Guardian have now their say about the top universities in the UK.
The Guardian considers eight different categories or criteria to measure the university’s performance for it’s annual league table. These include: entry standards, cumulative percentage of those satisfied with teaching, cumulative percentage of those satisfied with feedback, spend per student (money spent on each student) , average entry requirements, career after 15 months and continuation of degree (e.g. further studies in a relevant field.)
And so without further ado, after all that taken into consideration, London’s top institution, according to the Guardian is the London School Economics.
Overall, LSE faired on fourth place beaten by Oxford which scored 100 on the table which is pretty impressive, St Andrews in second and Cambridge in third – earning a score of 88.1 out of 100 especially faring high in the career prospects and continuation of degree category.
Just below LSE, comes Imperial College in fifth place overall faring well in the same categories as LSE with high job prospects and further studying.
On ninth place is University College London followed by University of the Arts London at 13 and King’s College at 28. You can see the Guardian’s full list here.
