Now, I’m not sure of the exact science behind this – but everybody knows that if you stick something up on a rooftop; it instantly becomes ten times more appealing to us Londoners. It’s just the way it is. So, I’m sure you can imagine the excitement that swept across the city when The Berkeley (the super swanky and oh-so exclusive Belgravia-based hotel) recently announced that its private rooftop bar is going to be open to the public throughout the summer, complete with poolside cocktails and sweeping views of the city.

The Berkeley’s rooftop is usually only accessible to guests staying at the hotel. But for this summer seasonthey’re kindly letting us mere mortals in on the action. The sky-high spot has received a Mexican-inspired makeover and will be serving up tacos, tequila, and downright terrific vibes.

On the menu at The Berkeley’s rooftop bar

Rooftop visitors can expect to tuck in to a trio of tasty tacos fillings including smoked salt marsh lamb, barbecue jackfruit, or crispy Dover sole. On ‘Taco Tuesdays’, there will be an off-menu option that will change each week. There’s also a make-your-own guac on the menu, and soft-serve ice cream for dessert; well-and-truly delivering the holiday vibes in spades. The cocktail menu will include the likes of a colada tequila (a Mexican twist on a classic) and – wait for it – a frozen paloma. Sign me up immediately.

Although visitors can’t actually swim in the pool (that’s still strictly reserved for hotel guests in the daytime), it’s still a pretty irresistible spot to soak up the sunshine and soak up the views. A pool-side, fiesta-themed, cocktail bar in the sky? Go on then.

The Berkeley’s rooftop will be open to the public from 7.30pm to 11pm, Tuesdays-Saturdays, from July 11.
