A sleeper train pulled up at a station platform at nightitme

In today’s episode of ‘affordable train travel does actually still exist – who’d have thought it?’, we’re heading across the channel (because the UK could never), and hopping aboard the shiny new rail route from European Sleeper. The new service will connect Brussels to Venice via a whole host of European cities, and tickets for the entire 21-hour journey start at just €89 (slightly less than £75). It certainly sounds right up my street train track.

European Sleepers new service

Leaving Brussels Midi station at 6.06pm, the low-cost locomotive winds it way through the likes of Eindhoven, Cologne, Munich, Innsbruck, and Veronabefore arriving at Venice Mestro at 3pm the following day. There are 15 stops along the route (including Brussels and Venice), and the return route leaves Venice at 4.15pm and arrives back in Brussels at 12.38pm the next day.

Created to provide a sustainable inter-city travel optionthe route will run once a week until the end of March. The most affordable ticket is the seat option, starting at just €89. But if you’re in the market for something slightly more comfortable, couchette tickets start at €199or you could even treat yourself to an actual bed from €339.

European Sleeper are no strangers to transporting travel-lovers between some of the continent’s best-loved cities. They also link the likes of Amsterdam, Berlin, and Prague. So, what are you waiting for? Hop aboard the handy new European Sleeper route, and have yourself a rail-y great adventure.
