Over in East London, there’s a store that sells essential items for monsters everywhere. Established in 1818, Hoxton Street Monster Supplies has been providing Tears of Sorrow, Human Snot and Brain Jam to the London monster community for 200 years. Humans are welcome at their own risk…

Naturally, we had to go and check it out for ourselves:

Whether you’re a Vampire, Werewolf, or something equally monstrous, this Hoxton Street store has everything you need. On your visit you can pick up tinned Night Terrors and Vague Sense of Unease (although I’ve got plenty of that already). Or, if you’ve run out, stock up on Impacted Earwax and Toasted Bone Chunks*. You certainly won’t be leaving without something suitably gross or fearful.

At Hoxton Street Monster Supplies they also sell a range of scary stationery, clothing and accessories fit for monsters of any shape or size. It’s an absolute must-visit for anyone who considers themselves a fan of the kooky and the spooky.

Hoxton Street Monster Supplies is run entirely by volunteers and all profits are donated to the Ministry of Stories, a charity that does creative writing and mentoring work with mini-humans. The shop relies on fearless volunteers to keep it running, and they’re always on the lookout for friendly new faces.

There are some very strict rules that you must abide by if you wish to enter the shop. For example: “beans will not be accepted as payment, even if they’re magic”. Also, as delicious as they might look, “customers must refrain from eating the lovely volunteers”. And unfortunately, there is only room for them to allow one giant inside at a time…

*most products are actually delicious foods/sweets, but let’s not ruin the fun.

Be sure to visit the website to find out more – which is arguably just as fun as the shop! The site is automatically translated for humans when you visit. But you can change the language to Mummy, Werewolf, Zombie, or even Vampire Bat.
