Summer is in full swing, and there’s no better way to cool down than a few delicious scoops of gelato. Luckily for us Londoners, we’re home to some pretty fabulous gelato shops. What’s even better, a new study finds that we’re home to some of the best in the worldwith a couple London hotspots hitting the long list of globally ranked shops.

Curated by Gelato Festival, the study ranks galeto shops from around the world based on a point system. The first London spot to make it on the list is at number 10, and it’s none other than Faboulous Ice Fires in Dulwich.

Everything you need to know about Fabulous Ice Fires:

Fabulous Ice Fires is nestled in between Dulwich and Peckham, being a favourite among south Londoners since the galeteria’s inception. Now thanks to this study, this place has been crowned one of the top gelato destinations worldwide for a few years in a row, and for good reason!

The Dulwich galeto parlour received a score of 158 and boasts two crowns (for comparison, the top spot received a score of 227 – but more on that later). The crowns are distributed by the Gelato Festival themselves, and you can think of them as the Michelin stars of the beloved Italian delicacy.

Speaking of, as for the gelato itself, you can expect a wide variety of flavours to choose from, served up in an authentic style that’s seen throughout Italy. From classic vanilla to more rouge and unique offerings, there’s a gelato to satisfy everyone and anyone at Fabulous Ice Fires. It’s owned by Taseer, the grand galeto master who’s become synonymous with the local community.

You can find Fabulous Ice Fires at 54 East Dulwich Road, SE22 9AX. The nearest tube stations are East Dulwich, Nunshead, and Peckham Rye.

Other notable galeterias from Gelato Festival’s study:

Fabulous Ice Fires isn’t the only London addition on the list. You can also find Creamy Ice Cream coming in at number 21, and Bertotti Gelato at number 143 (we told you this study was intensive). You’re probably wondering what spot and city nabbed the top spot, and it’s Fazekas Cukraszda, surprisingly located in Budapest. However, it is followed by an authentic Italian shop, with a total of six offerings from Italy in the top 10 alone.
