This 113-Year-Old London Hall With One Of Europe’s Largest Domes Is Hosting Enchanting Christmas Concerts This December

Christmas in London is officially here. The Christmas lights are up, Wham! is Whamming and a drunken mistake at the work’s Christmas party is just around the corner. But amid the festive frenzy, there’s a series of classical Christmas concerts coming to light up Central Hall Westminster this December, delivering a sprinkle of peace and joy to the most wonderful (and hectic) time of the year.

They’re live tributes to the music that soundtracks the festive season—think classics by Mariah Carey and Michael Bublé and songs from films like Love Actually, The Polar Express and Home Alone. All performed live on strings under Central Hall Westminster’s gigantic Edwardian dome — *festive chef’s kiss*.

Central Hall Westminster: an Edwardian Baroque landmark in London

Central Hall Westminster is over a century old (113 years, to be exact). Inside, The Great Hall boasts the largest self-supporting domed ceiling in Europe. It’s also home to a huge organ that was mastered by Andrew Lloyd Webber’s father and consists of 4,731 pipes.

The building itself was inspired by St Paul’s Cathedral while its grand staircase is modeled after the Paris Opera House. It features Edwardian Baroque architecture complete with majestic stained glass windows and gorgeous chandeliers.

Classical Christmas concerts inside London’s Grade-II listed hall

December’s here and so are the most Christmassy concerts in London. These tributes are jam-packed with festive hits and Christmas classics that we all know and love. This year, you can catch a tribute to songs like “All I Want for Christmas Is You”, “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Last Christmas” or a night dedicated to Christmas movie soundtracks—think Love Actually, Home Alone and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Lit up by a sea of twinkling candles and guided by a string quartetthese classical concerts provide a magical escape that’ll spark your festive spirit and melt December stress away.
