A lit up London underground sign at night time

If you’ve ever dreamed of living in London but balked at the sky-high rents of central neighbourhoods, you’re not alone. While the likes of Westminster and Sloane Square will set you back eye-watering sums (think over £13,000 a month!), there are still pockets of the capital where you can bag a rental for under £1,500 a month – and they’re all handily accessible by tube or Overground.

Thanks to a new interactive map from Barratt Londonwe now know exactly which tube stops offer the best value for renters in 2025.

The top 10 cheapest tube stops for renting in London

Here are London’s most wallet-friendly tube stops, all with average monthly rents of £1,500 or less:

Anerley – £1,400 per month

Topping the list, Anerley in south east London is the city’s most affordable tube stop for renters. With its leafy streets and growing café culture, it’s a hidden gem for those seeking value.

MONEY WEST – £ 1,400 PER MONTH

Sharing the top spot, Penge West offers quick Overground connections and a lively local community, making it ideal for first-time renters and young professionals.

Norwood Junction – £1,410 per month

Well-connected and increasingly popular, Norwood Junction is just a short hop from central London, but with rent prices that feel a world away.

West Drayton – £1,410 per month

Out west, West Drayton offers affordable living and is now even better connected thanks to the Elizabeth Line.

Gidea Park – £1,460 per month

This east London spot is perfect for commuters, with fast trains and plenty of green space.

Northolt – £ 1,460 per month

Northolt’s suburban feel and reasonable rents make it a favourite for families and those seeking a quieter pace.

Ilford – £1,460 per month

With a buzzing high street and excellent transport links, Ilford is a top choice for renters on a budget.

Hounslow Central – £1,500 per month

Hounslow Central is a multicultural hub with great shopping and dining, plus easy access to Heathrow.

Hounslow East – £1,500 per month

Just down the line, Hounslow East offers similar perks and affordability.

Hounslow West – £1,500 per month

Rounding out the top ten, Hounslow West is another west London bargain with plenty of local amenities.

While none of these stops are in the heart of Zone 1, they offer a compelling mix of community, green spaces, and easy access to central London via public transport. Many are seeing a surge in popularity as renters look further afield for better value and quality of life.

If you’re on the hunt for a London rental that won’t break the bank, start your search at these ten tube stops. With the average rent at or below £1,500 a month, you can enjoy all the perks of London living – without the central London price tag.
