Frozen 3 is coming in 2027, but plot details are still thin. However, a Disney executive recently teased the future of the animated trilogy.
The Frozen movies have been an unprecedented success for Disney, as the story of sisters Anna (Kristen Bell) and Elsa (Idina Menzel) has launched a billion-dollar franchise with fans around the world.
Earlier this year at D23, Disney made history by announcing except Frozen 3 but Frozen 4 also establishing its franchise for years to come.
The Disney producer hints at the Frozen 3 story
Disney recently held a showcase event at D23 Brazil that included news of many of the studio’s upcoming projects. Although Frozen 3 wasn’t part of the big announcements, Disney Animation chief creative officer Jared Bush revealed some details.
Speaking to Arroba Nerd in Brazil, Bush told the crowd “will be surprised” of the story of Frozen 3 and adds that it is unexpected, but also “give everything people love” About the franchise agreement:
“Yeah, yeah, Frozen 3 is coming And from what I’ve seen (of the film) so far, I think people are going to be surprised. I can’t give away too many spoilers, except to say that Jennifer Lee is leading the charge and that the story and the direction that she’s taking these characters, what they’re going through, what they’re going to go through, I think it’s going to surprise a lot of people, but it’s also going to to offer everything people love about Frozen.”
This corresponds to the comments on the topic Frozen 3 Disney producer Peter Del Vecho made for The Direct in 2023, which said “We only make sequels if we believe there is enough of a story to tell” and that he was confident there would be a third film “amazing:”
“Look, we only make sequels if we believe there is enough of a story to tell. They’re working on it in development, I’m focused on “Wish”. But it’s exciting what they’re doing. I will say everything you read about it in public, we have not said anything about it. So it’s all guesswork, but I think it’s going to be amazing.”
What is the surprising story of Frozen 3?
Plot details Frozen 3 are currently locked, but fans have one piece of concept art.
Published in connection with the announcement Frozen 3 At D23 in August, concept art (via Deadline ) depicts Anna, Elsa, and Olaf on horseback, in a vision of an unknown castle in silhouette.
Another point of note in the concept art is the shadow of the horned figure holding the spear, suggesting that Frozen 3 can be a clear villain for the first time.
Frozen 2 followed the journey of Anna and Elsa as they united the kingdoms of Arendelle and Northuldra and calmed the spirits of the enchanted forest. The movie ended with Anna taking the throne in Arendelle, while Elsa became the protector of the forest.
Towards the direction Frozen 3 it looks like the siblings will reunite, perhaps joining forces to face an even greater threat.
