East London’s beloved 24-hour cafe, Polo Bar, is delivering Christmas cheer by the plate-load this year, having just launched the UK’s first-ever 24-hour Christmas dinner. Because nothing says festive quite like sitting down for a full Christmas dinner at 3am, right?
Polo Bar has been proudly serving up Great British grub to hungry Londoners, all day, every day, since it opened back in 1953. The Liverpool Street locale is renowned for it’s ginormous portions, ridiculous food challenges, decadent milkshakes, 24-hour alcohol license, and for – quite literally – being ‘always open’. But this year, they’re cranking their festive offerings up a notch in the form of a 24/7 Christmas dinner. Sign me up.
For £16.50, guests can tuck into a dinner of turkey, a giant pig-in-blanket, roast potatoes, veg, stuffing and – of course – gravy. For an extra £2, there’s even an option of adding bottomless Yorkshire puddings to your plate. I guess that firmly settles the debate on whether or not a Yorkshire pudding belongs on a Christmas dinner, then.
If you don’t think you’ll be in the mood for a Christmas dinner at the crack of dawn, other items on their festive menu include ‘Santa’s Big Breakfast’ (a full English with a pig-in-blanket replacing the regular sausage) or the ‘Crimbo Burger’ which is served with sage and onion chips. Merry Christmas, indeed.
