Sonus faber has come a long way in 40 years. Since starting life in a small artisan workshop in the hills of Northern Italy, the brand has gone on to produce some of the most cutting edge and luxurious loudspeakers ever made. It has achieved this without ever losing sight of its original mission: to craft speakers as musical instruments, combining only the finest wood and raw materials with the highest technological standards to create works of art that truly immerse the listener in sound.

The new Sonetto collection is a culmination of the brand’s decades of expertise, and by encompassing stand-mount, floor-standing, and wall-mount models, it offers something for every listener, from the discerning audiophile to the passionate music enthusiast.

The new Sonetto is the second generation in Sonus faber’s award-winning Collection, and the first to incorporate acoustic technologies found in the brand’s Suprema flagship (often called one of the best production loudspeakers ever built).

These technologies include the Camellia midrange (in the Sonetto VIII, Sonetto V and Sonetto Center), which is left unpainted to ensure 100 per cent sound purity, and whose aluminium Phase Plug assures a smooth frequency response and sonic clarity. Suprema’s cork chamber also features in the Sonetto V and Sonetto VIII models, designed to enhance the midrange resolution and natural sound quality. This unique cork chamber eliminates regular internal walls, providing a tighter control over sound propagation and resonance.

The new Sonetto also features Suprema’s Phase Coherent Crossover technology, which ensures precise synchronisation of the drivers’ phase rotations, delivering a soundstage with remarkable texture.

But the second generation of Sonetto is much more than an homage to Suprema – it has plenty of new elements of its own. All the drivers have been custom designed and made for these speakers, and all are built using the Sonus faber Organic Basket and CNC machined from solid aluminium. The speakers’ new lute shape decreases internal resonances inside the cabinets, and there are new details like a concrete base to enhance stability and minimise vibrations while also adding a clean, modern aesthetic.

The woofer’s paper pulp sandwich cone makes for a precise, dynamic bass response, and comes paired with an organic basket for optimal air-flow. The tweeter in the new Sonetto range features state-of-the-art Silk Dome DAD (Damped Apex Dome) technology – with the aid of a copper cup, this extends the response beyond 30kHz, digging out the finest nuances in the audio spectrum, leaving no stone unturned and delivering exceptional clarity.

Finished to perfection

The speakers’ finish demands to be seen. The open pore fine wood showcases the natural wood grain, while enhancing the organic feel of the range – a perfect reflection of their natural, fatigue-free audio experience. Choose from three colours: walnut, wenge, and piano black. Each has been selected to complement a range of interior styles, so you can find the perfect option for your listening environment.

Despite these design and acoustic innovations, the Sonetto range is surprisingly affordable, starting from just £1,150.
