November marks the month of Diwali in 2023, and the five days of celebration commence on Friday, November 10, running until November 14. However, most of the celebrations will take place on Sunday (November 12).

The festival of lights is observed around the world by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and some Buddhists. London is getting in on the action with all sorts of celebratory activities and events. Some restaurants are serving up ultra-special menus, and museums are hosting special exhibitions and events. There was even a massive early Diwali celebration even took over Trafalgar Square back in late October.

And of course, one of London’s largest tourist attractions wasn’t content to miss out on the fun. The lastminute.com London Eye is also joining in with the celebrations, with a dazzling light and colour show set to take over the structure.

The London Eye will flash a colourful gaze over the city this weekend to celebrate the festival of light, with a display that will last from 4pm until sunrise. A glowing spread of colours and patterns inspired by traditional rangoli colours will take over the Eye. The display hopes to represent a time of new beginnings and good prevailing over evil shown in the hope-filled lights pouring out.

Imran Tauqir, General Manager of the London Eye, said:

“We’re delighted to be joining the Hindu, Sikh, Jain and Buddhist communities in the celebration of Diwali at the lastminute.com London Eye with our very special light-up display. It’s amazing to join not just the Hindu, Sikh, Jain and Buddhist communities in London but around the world in celebrating the festive of light.
