The Last Dinner Party have canceled additional tour dates “due to an unforeseen illness in the band” after an investigation into security policies at one of their gigs was launched.

The UK-winning band, who canceled shows in Lincoln and Cardiff at the weekend, have now canceled their headline tour dates in Birmingham, Nottingham, Bristol and Southampton “following medical advice”.

It comes after the band said they were “appalled and disappointed” after a Lincoln venue enforced a security policy that made fans feel “uncomfortable and disrespected”. Audience members online claimed that some single men were stopped and asked if they were fans of the band.

A statement posted on The Last Dinner Party’s social media said the band were not aware of the security policies at the show and “they would not have been implemented had we been made aware of them in advance”.

The Engine Shed, dubbed Lincolnshire’s biggest live music venue, has since apologized in a statement on X and confirmed it had also launched an investigation into the incident.

It said the security policy was changed in response to “incidents” at a previous performance of The Last Dinner Party, but resulted in “unacceptable treatment of some guests” during entry.

The Last Dinner Party pulled out of Saturday’s gig in Lincoln at the last minute, “due to a band member unexpectedly falling ill,” the venue said at the time.

The Mercury Prize-nominated band, who also canceled their Sunday show at Cardiff’s TramShed, have since announced that further dates on their UK and Ireland tour have been cancelled.

“We are devastated not to be sharing these nights with you and to have missed the shows in Lincoln and Cardiff,” the band said in a statement on social media.

“You all should know that you have made this the most wonderful year of our lives and we truly cannot thank you enough for your love and support.

“TLDP is here today because of you and we want to continue touring and sharing our music with you for a long time, but in order to do that we have to make serious decisions like these now so that our long-term health doesn’t suffer.”

The Last Dinner Party is an all-female indie outfit consisting of singer Abigail Morris, guitarist Emily Roberts, Lizzie Mayland on rhythm, bassist Georgia Davies and Aurora Nishevci on keyboards.
