The duo behind Sri Lankan eatery Kolamba are preparing to unveil their second restaurant in London’s bustling Spitalfields this spring, marking a new chapter five years after their first debut.
Kolamba East, founded by Eroshan and Aushi Meewella, expands the culinary delights at its flagship location in Soho, celebrating contemporary Sri Lankan home cooking with an array of tantalizing flavors.
Kolamba East’s menu is rich in flavors and dishes inspired by their nostalgic memories of Colombo and the various culinary traditions of the Sinhalese, Tamil, Moorish, Hamburg (Dutch) and Malay communities.
At the new 92-cover facility, guests can expect larger banquet platters alongside Kolamba’s renowned ‘short eat’ snacks, hoppers and sambols, ensuring a delightful culinary experience for every guest.
In addition, Kolamba East offers two exclusive private dining rooms and a dedicated bar where guests can sample cocktails made with Sri Lankan spirits, adding a unique and spiritual touch to the dining experience.
The restaurant was designed by Annie Harrison from the London studio Fare Inc. in collaboration with the real estate development and design company of the founders of Kolamba, WhiteBox London.
Showcasing the talents of local artists and suppliers, Kolamba East features works by acclaimed batik designer Sonali Dharmawardena and artist Pragreeth Manohansa, adding an authentic and culturally rich aesthetic to the space.
Eroshan and Aushi Meewella said: “We are thrilled to be bringing Kolamba to East London this spring and to be able to offer our guests a brand new, high-end dining experience in this incredible space.”
