WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for The Golden Bachelorette Season 1.

A highly anticipated inaugural season The Golden Bachelor is in full swing, and while Joan Vassos is having fun now, she’ll probably regret doing the show one day. For a glimpse of his future regrets, he need look no further than 72-year-old Gerry Turner. Gerry, a retired restaurateur from Indiana, lived a happy, quiet life in relative obscurity before ABC producers blacked out his door. He was married to Toni Turner for 43 years before she died of cancer in 2018, and they had two children and two grandchildren together.

Joan met Gerry when he was selected The Golden Bachelor season 1. He was one 22 The Golden Bachelor women who travelled Bachelor mansion from different parts of the country hoping to win Gerry’s heart. Joan had to leave Gerry early in the season due to a family emergency and was later cast in the role The Golden Bachelor. Joan met 24 impressive men, and after a season of dating, tough choices, and romantic hiatuses, she decided to give four men dates in her hometown. Things might have looked fun, but Joan might have regretted doing the show.

Because a Bachelor Public administration in the era of internet comment sections is not for the faint of heart. Few know better than The Golden Bachelor season 1 Gerry how cruel internet trolls can be. Gerry recently posted photos on Instagram of his recent trip to a major college football game. Some photos show Gerry hanging out with his daughters. Internet trolls can’t stand to see anyone happy so they settled on Gerry. One comment read: “A lying pensioner. Your best performance was on Golden Bachelorette. Lots of sneaky moves!

This is a small sample of the verbal attacks Gerry has been subjected to by a large army of nameless, faceless trolls. Gerry did his best to ignore the hatersbut it tired him out after a while and he spent much less time on social media. Joan is a gentle, sensitive person who can’t stand online cruelty and may regret ever agreeing to be The Golden Bachelor.

Joan’s love life may go downhill

It will be Tabloid fodder

In a recent Instagram post, the reality TV reporter Reality Steve revealed Chock won The Golden Bachelor season 1. After Joan and Chock have left the show, they become the object of constant speculationquestions, rumors and unsolicited advice. A strong relationship would be needed to endure it.

Even if Joan and Chock could tune out the noise, it might not be smooth sailing.

Gerry gave his last rose to Theresa Nist and they married in a lavish wedding televised on ABC. Since they could not decide where to live and did not want to move, they broke up after three months of marriage. Starting a relationship at an older age is difficult because people are so established in their lives and their own ways. If Joan and Chock break up, she might regret the whole relationship.

Joan and Gerry didn’t have much time together before he had to leave The Golden Bachelor season 1. They had one solo date together, which Joan won during a larger group date. Two connected at a deeper levelbecause both have lost beloved spouses. Joan buried her late husband John Vassos in 2021 after 32 years of marriage and four children together.

Just when it looked like they might have a future, her daughter called back home and needed her mother right away.

If things don’t work out with Chock after that The Golden Bachelor season 1, Joan may always wonder what could have been with Gerry. For him Gerry is single and still licking his wounds of her painfully public divorce. Being The Golden Bachelor ruined Gerry’s reputation, and Joan might come to regret it as much as he did.
