London’s favourite winter activity is making its much-anticipated return to the capital city this week. Because there really is nothing like a spot of competitive socialising to get you in the festive spirit, hey?
Sliding back into London’s Southbank Centre on October 10, The Curling Club will be offering the ultimate wintery experience to curling-connoisseurs (and those of us who have never touched a curling stone in their life and are mainly going for the après-ski activities).
Inspired by the popular Winter Olympic sport, The Curling Club will be offering guests the authentic curling experience of gliding stones down a fit-for-purpose sheet, but without the need for ice or specialist footwear. The Curling Club’s ambassador (and four-time Olympic champ, might I add), Eve Muirhead OBEwill also be returning to the Southbank spot. So basically, this is the closest I’ll ever get to competing in an Olympic sport, and I’m thrilled at that prospect.
The banks of the River Thames provide the perfect setting for this quintessential Alpine experience (okay, perhaps Chamonix or Val-d’Isère would be preferable, but the Southbank isn’t far off, right?). The Curling Club will boast five curling sheets for players to show-off their skills and a whole host of après-ski fun for after the curling is done.
Alpine-inspired street food classics will be served up, so guests can gorge on the likes of burgers, bratwurst and raclette. Beer, wine and a selection of festive cocktails will also be on offer, because – you know – it’s (nearly) Christmas. Live music, resident DJs and plenty more entertainment will add an extra sprinkling of magic to this wintery wonderland, making this a truly bro-illiant way to spend a chilly winter evening.
The Curling Club at Vinegar Yard
It’s set to be an extra special snowy season for The Curling Club as they are opening a shiny new venue just a (curling) stone’s throw from London Bridge station. Their Vinegar Yard venue will throw open its doors on November 1serving up a whopping 600-person capacity venue and a truly enchanting Alpine experience.
Perfect for date nights, fun with friends or even work Christmas parties; The Curling Club has something that will appeal to everybody. So, head on down to the Southbank Centre or Vinegar Yard this winter. and have a go at one of the coolest festive activities in town.
